  My name is Mac Loeblein and I am currently studying Editing, Writing, and Media (EWM) with a minor in Education. I plan to use my degree to work in editing or publishing, but I am also interested in teaching English. My original major was Social Science Education before I realized that EWM would be a better fit for me. However, I would still like to develop skills useful in education. Outside of my studies, I am interested in history, reading, writing, and cooking.

    My prior experiences with educational technology have been limited to those of a student. I have used various Microsoft Office and Google programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Drive to complete assignments. I consider myself technologically fluent in these programs as well as academic platforms like Canvas. I look forward to learning more about how academic technology is used by educators. 

    The FSU Library is a learning resource that I try to utilize regularly. I find its digital resource library useful for research and planning projects. Through the FSU library, I also have access to countless online academic journals. In my personal life, I try to maintain connections with people who have similar academic and professional interests via in-person interaction and social media.

    Hello Mac! I am also an education minor who has switched majors, I used to be a marketing major before I switched to history. What would you say is your favorite social media platform to use for your network?

Blog Journal 4: Standards and Online Resources

     Standard LAFS.910.L.3.4 states that students will be able to find the meanings of unfamiliar words found in content for grades 9-10. I believe I am prepared to implement this standard with the aid of technical resources. Students can be provided with online dictionaries and thesauruses so that they can begin to develop reference skills. The standards matrix also lists visual dictionaries and word analysis tools which can aid students in memorization. I would also teach students to analyze context clues or potentially break words into parts to understand them better on a first reading.      I examined standard ELA.9.C.1.3: " Write to argue a position, supporting claims using logical reasoning and credible evidence from multiple sources, rebutting counterclaims with relevant evidence, using a logical organizational structure, elaboration, purposeful transitions, and a tone appropriate to the task."
